In 2022 Wokingham Lions took over the running of the Winter Carnival.
The Winter Carnival has been held in Wokingham since 1994. The initial event was started by Keith Hoskins, the Town Centre Manager at the time, together with a few town centre shop owners.
Since then it has grown into a popular annual event that benefits from the support of Wokingham Town Council, the Wokingham Society, many business sponsors and the Wokingham residents.
The event gives the opportunity for many local charities to run stalls to raise money for their worthwhile causes.
Each year the Winter Carnival has been able to provide support to local charities with funds raised over and above the running costs of the event. Despite the changes over the years the aims have remained the same:
- To provide a FREE event for all the family and provide positive opportunities to continue developing community spirit.
- To encourage young people to get involved and feel valued
- To provide a platform for local charities to raise funds and develop their profile.
All while having fun!
