Wokingham Winter Carnival History

The very first Wokingham Winter Carnival was a Community Project in 1994 brought about by Keith Hoskins, the then Town Centre Manager, and a few town centre shop owners.

Since the early years it has grown in size and now benefits from the support of Wokingham Town Council, The Wokingham Society, Cantley House Hotel, The Wokingham Times and some business sponsors. Many businesses within the town centre and several from the Wokingham area also come forward each year to give their time and energy to make it such a success.

The committee also have the continued support of 41 Club and Wokingham West Forest Round Table both on the day and in the preparations.

Despite the changes over the years the aims have remained the same, to help nurture community spirit, encourage the young to get involved and to raise funds for local charities whilst having fun.

The three main charities for this year are Wokingham & District Citizens Advice Bureau, The Link and Daisy's Dream. Click here to read more about these worthy charities.
